Social Media Management — Hope Mission Society, Rwanda

From 2,720 Followers to 25,184. One Consistent Strategy.

Because a mission this important deserved an audience that could actually find it.

Starting point: an inconsistent presence and a powerful story that was not reaching the people who needed to find it.

The Brief

Hope Mission Society does meaningful work in Rwanda. Agricultural training, kitchen gardens, poultry programs, savings groups, English classes, and Christian discipleship — all of it producing real change, most of it invisible online.

  • Inconsistent posting with no clear content direction
  • A growing organization with no social media strategy to match
  • Powerful stories from Rwanda that were not reaching the people who needed to hear them
  • A new Instagram presence that needed to be built from zero

The Work

Content Strategy

People-first storytelling replaced broad updates. Farmers, trainees, families, poultry programs, kitchen gardens, savings groups, and English classes became the content. Real faces. Real outcomes.

Paid Campaign Management

Selective boosting and paid ads from September 2025. The top ad reached 828K people and generated 1.9M views. The top boosted post started 875 inbox conversations.

Instagram Launch

Built from zero. Within 6 months: 460K views and 144K reach through a combination of organic storytelling and targeted paid promotion.

Key Strategy

The data kept showing the same thing: people respond to people. Not logos. Not mission statements. People.

A post about a farmer who grew from 4 hens to 700 chickens started 875 conversations in the inbox. One story. One boost. Real results.

I worked with the Rwanda team to dramatically improve how they captured the work on the ground. A photography guide tailored to their context, training on composition and emotional storytelling, and a shift toward specific moments over general documentation changed the quality of everything coming in.

I also built and trained a comment moderation and inbox response team. As the page grew, so did the conversations. A trained team meant the community felt heard and the inbox became a real point of connection rather than an unanswered queue.

The Results

First six months of management — July to December 2025.

25,184 Total Audience 826% Follower Growth
4.9M Total Views Facebook and Instagram
243K Interactions up 1,100% year over year
2,900 Inbox Conversations started in messaging
460K Instagram Views built from zero

Build Your Content Strategy

What This Demonstrates

A mission-driven organization does not need a large budget to build a real audience. It needs a content strategy built around the people and the work, consistent execution, and selective amplification at the right moments.

For nonprofits and faith-based organizations, the story is already there. The question is whether the communication strategy is doing justice to what is actually happening.

This is the kind of work I take on for nonprofits and faith-based organizations, where the mission is real and the strategy just has to catch up to it. You can see more of it in my nonprofit marketing work.

Stories from Rwanda

Short-form reels that brought individual stories to a global audience. Testimonials, training sessions, garden tips, and discipleship content — each one built around a person and a specific outcome rather than a program description.
